Victorian Villa front and side garden redevelopment

Date: July 2010

Our Dundee clients brief was to transform the front and side aspects of their home to allow usable leisure space, less maintenance and segregation of areas for the family pets. The sloping front garden was generally of planted rockery style offering no useable amenity space to what is a large southerly facing semi secluded garden. The side garden was blighted by a huge tree stump with roots stretchng along the turf surface.

We have built a retaining wall system to the fornt end of the garden retaining an access path for maintaining the boundary hedge to the front, the rockery material was recycled to provide the natural wall and steps. The surfaces of the new terrace were paved with natural sandstone from Stonemarkets Marketstone range. The tree stump and many large root branches were removed to the side garden leaving the space for a smaller neater rockery which enhances the approach to the house entrance. A sweeping natural stone stairway now joins the lower level lawn to the rear raised garden with gated fencing to retain the family pets to the rear.
